Volunteer Opportunity During COVID-19 Outbreak: Friendly Reassurance Calls
TCOA is concerned about older adults who are living alone and have little contact with people other than over the phone or internet. As they have been advised to “shelter at home”, TCOA is asking for volunteers to make phone calls to provide socialization. Do you have an hour per day or week to call TCOA clients? Meals on Wheels clients, dining site participants, and clients who receive in-home services through TCOA’s Project Choices and Case Management programs will be receiving friendly phone calls to temporarily replace the socialization that in-person contacts normally provide during the duration of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Apply by clicking the “volunteer application” button on this page, or contact Casey Cooper at 517-887-1377 or CooperC@tcoa.org.

5th Day Deliveries
Meals on Wheels (MOW) is one of TCOA’s best known programs. In addition to delivering hot, healthy food, the friendly volunteers provide some of the only human interaction a client may get that day.
TCOA has unique volunteer needs on “5th Days,” and several routes that need filling on those days! So what is a 5th Day?
When a volunteer signs up to deliver MOW, they usually choose to deliver on a specific day, such as the 1st Monday or the 4th Friday of the month. This helps to create regular, dependable schedules for volunteers. Some months have a 5th Monday-Friday of the month. It is usually a rare occurrence, so there is typically no one who signs up to volunteer on these days. This leaves a major gap when they do occur. This is where you can come in.
Please contact Casey at 517-887-1377 to get started, or simply fill out the volunteer application using the link above or by printing the document below. Thank you!
