The 2019 Run for the Ages – TCOA 5K marks our 6th year walking, running and wheeling! 

The 2019 Run for the Ages – TCOA 5K will be on Saturday, May 18th at Hawk Island Park in Lansing.

In 2018, over 150 registered participants and dozens of volunteers helped make TCOA’s 5th annual Run for the Ages Walk/Run/Wheel event a success. Each year, the event benefits the Tri-County Office on Aging Meals on Wheels program and other in-home services that help promote and preserve the independence and dignity of older adults.

Over 1,300 seniors and advocates rallied on the lawn of the State Capitol on May 16, 2018, joining TCOA and other members of the Area Agencies on Aging Association of Michigan for this year’s Older Michiganian’s Day Advocacy Event.The Theme for the event was Engage at Any Age!

This advocacy event is a day for older adults and professionals from the statewide aging network to celebrate our growing senior population and consider policies and budget decisions that are senior friendly.  Programming included the presentation of a Senior of the Year award as well as remarks from state policy makers.

State Senators and Representatives were invited to join their constituents on the lawn for lunch.  Thanks to House Speaker Tom Leonard, House Minority Leader Sam Singh, and Senate Minority Whip Curtis Hertel, Jr. for providing comments on the Issue Platform. as part of the program.
