on an aide, have job duties written down; hours to work, time off,
and pay per hour. Make sure both the aide and you have a copy. Sample

Pay by check or get a signed
receipt when payment is made. Pay on time.

Decide with the aide who
is responsible for IRS filing. Information on filing is available
from Social Security. Call 1-800-772-1213 or a local branch office.

Ask that the aide give
at least one week notice if he/she has to quit.

Place an ad at local churches
or organizations or as family members, friends or neighbors for names.
