A network of hearing health care professionals agree to fit identified recipients with donated hearing aids. Eligible devices and services include hearing aids and hearing aid fittings. In-the-ear, in-the canal, behind-the-ear and body style hearing aids are available but completely in-the-canal hearing aids are not available. Eligibility: Must meet financial criteria, complete the application process and be approved. Verification of the applicant's financial situation and proof of a need for hearing aids are part of the process. Must have a documented hearing loss severe enough to warrant the wearing of hearing aids. A current audiogram, no more than 9 months old is needed with the application. Cost: The applicant is responsible for the cost of the hearing evaluation and a nominal processing fee. Also for the cost of batteries and repairs. Contact your local Lions Club for more information. Eligibility: Must meet income requirements and unable to obtain services due to financial restrictions. 2008 limits are: 1 person $20,420, 2 $27,280. Contact for limits on 3 or more persons. Information needed with application: Medicare card (front & back); Medicaid card (front & back); BCBS card (front & back); Social Security number; Medicare Income statement; @-2 Income tax form & total family members in household. Services: Information and assistance, public education, advocacy, service.Lending library, sign language interpreter referral services.Offers childrens leadership training & other services. Call for more information. Accepts used hearing aids, which are donated to the Lions Club.The Hearing Aide Distribution Program-Eligible applicants can receive a prescribed reconditoned hearing aid, amplified telephone or TTY at no charge if income eligible. Eligibility: Deaf, hard of hearing & low income. Cost: Must meet income guidelines or be on public assistance for free service. MSU
