Services :   Annual health screening, chore service, transportation (E. Lansing residents only), information and assistance, intergenerational programs, monthly foot clinics, bimonthly blood pressure checks, community dances, tax assistance, travel program, small appliance clinic (electrical repair), enrichment classes, recreational opportunities, monthly newsletter. For details on reduced taxi transportation program see page 116 .

Eligibility :   Must be age 60 or over and a resident of East Lansing or East Lansing School district.

Cost :   Varies. Cost of mailing the monthly newsletter to residents outside of East

Lansing is $10.00 per year or can be emailed at no charge.

Services :   Offers a variety of services including information and assistance in the areas of housing, Social Security, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, health programs, employment, volunteer opportunities, nutrition programs, utility assistance programs, etc. and makes referrals to the appropriate agencies. Provides advocacy of behalf of senior citizens to insure that they are receiving benefits they are entitled to. Assistance completing DHS applications. Commodity Food and a monthly Commodity Supplemental Food Program. Weatherization Program insulates the homes of low-income seniors. Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance counseling and insurance information for long-term care and Medicare supplements.

Eligibility :   Persons age 60 and over living in Clinton County.

Cost :   None. Donations accepted.


 

CRISTO REY SENIOR CITIZENS PROGRAM

Hours :   8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Services :   Provides a variety of services to senior citizens including those who only speak Spanish. These services include information and assistance on topics such as Social Security, SSI, Medicaid, Medicare, food stamps, housing, health programs, property tax assistance and utility assistance. Emergency help for prescriptions may be available depending on funding. Outreach service is provided to Spanish speaking senior citizens to inform them of services and programs available to them. The program also provides advocacy on behalf of senior citizens to insure that they are receiving benefits they are entitled to. The center also provides other activities such as meals, arts and crafts, music and educational classes (i.e. English as a second language). Transportation is provided to medical appointments, social services, nutrition program and grocery shopping. Bilingual staff available

Eligibility :   Spanish speaking senior citizens age 60 and over.

Recruits older adult volunteers in cooperation the RSVP.

Eligibility :   Eaton Rapids area residents.

Cost :   None. A donation asked for meals.

 


RURAL INGHAM COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS OFFICE

Provides assistance with USDA commodity programs, utility assistance, tax assistance and preparation, health insurance information, legal services, in-home weatherization services, volunteer transportation and adult day care. Provides advocacy on behalf of senior citizens to insure they are receiving benefits that they are entitled to.

Eligibility :   Persons age 60 and over living in Ingham County outside of Lansing and East Lansing.

Services: Information and assistance for Ingham, Eaton and Clinton County residents. Provides information and advocacy on topics related to older adults including, but not limited to Social Security, SSI, health insurance, in-home services, housing information, long-term care, etc. TCOA funds a variety of programs, such as Adult Day Care, Elder Abuse Education, Home Health Aide, Homemaker, In-Home Respite, Legal Assistance, Long-Term Care Ombudsman, and Volunteer Transportation. TCOA also directly provides the following services:
