Cost:
Varies. A donation is requested for lunches. Cost of
mailing the monthly newsletter to residents outside of East
Lansing
is $6.00 per year.

and other insurance counseling and insurance information for long-term
care and Medicare supplements.

Services:
Provides a variety of services to senior citizens including
those who only speak Spanish. These services include information
and assistance on topics such as Social Security, SSI, Medicaid,
Medicare, food stamps, housing, health programs, property tax assistance
and utility assistance. Emergency help for prescriptions may be
available depending on funding. Outreach service is provided to
Spanish speaking senior citizens to inform them of services and
programs available to them. The program also provides advocacy on
behalf of senior citizens to insure that they are receiving benefits
they are entitled to. The center also provides other activities
such as meals, arts and crafts, music and educational classes (i.e.
English as a second language). Transportation is provided to medical
appointments, social services, nutrition program and grocery shopping.

Services:
Information and assistance for Ingham, Eaton and Clinton County
residents. Provides information and advocacy on topics related to
older adults including, but not limited to Social Security, SSI,
health insurance, in-home services, housing information, long-term
care, etc. TCOA funds a variety of programs, such as Adult Day Care,
Elder Abuse Education, Home Health Aide, Homemaker, In-Home Respite,
Legal Assistance, Long-Term Care Ombudsman, and Volunteer Transportation.
TCOA also directly provides the following services:
- Caregiver
Support Program - Counseling for caregivers and their families
on planning for the future, including housing, finances and long
term care options.
- Case Coordination
- A staff person conducts an in-home assessment and can, if
appropriate, arrange and pay for in-home care for seniors needing
limited assistance with personal care, homemaking, chores or in-home
respite.
- Crisis
Services - Assists older persons with non-medical emergencies
in the Greater Lansing area. Assistance is available 24-hours
a day 7 days a week.
- Kinship
Care/Respite Program - Provides caregivers (55+) with a break
from the responsibilities of caregiving a child or children 17
years of age or younger.
- Lending
Library - Offers books and videos on Alzheimer's, caregiving,
aging, health & other age related issues.
- Meals
on Wheels - Provides hot, nutritious meals delivered to eligible
homebound persons in the tri-county area.
- Medicare/Medicaid
Assistance program (MMAP)- Counseling program for Medicare/Medicaid
beneficiaries and their families when they need help understanding
these systems.
- Project
Choices (MI Choice)- Assists those people (18+) who are at
risk of nursing home placement and their families in arranging
services necessary to maintain independent living.
- Senior
Dine Card - Electronic voucher program operated with local
restaurants for seniors 60+ who are at nutritional risk, socially
isolated & who are at/below 150% of poverty. Client makes
donation ($2 suggested) for each meal & receives a card that
is swiped in participating area restaurants. Card may be used
once a day or up to 12 meals per quarter.
- Senior
Dining Sites - Provides hot, well-balanced meals and other
activities at sites throughout the tri-county area.
- Senior
Refugee Support Project - Services to assist senior refugees
with transportation to medical appointments and other miscellaneous
needs not met by other agencies.
- Supplemental
Food Sack Program - Food provided to senior (60+) with difficulty
stretching their income to include good nutritious food on a regular
basis. You must have means to pick up the food from the central
kitchen. Call staff at 887-1392 a day ahead of when you wish to
pick up the food sack. Contents include: 6 frozen meals (prepared
by central kitchen), 6 pieces of fresh fruit, 6 half pints of
milk, 6 slices of bread w/ margarine pat. One sack per month is
available as long as grant through Greater Lansing Food Bank continues.
- AARP Tax
Counseling for the Elderly- Trained volunteers assist older
person with their income tax and property tax credit forms. Special
arrangements are made for homebound persons.
