Eligibility: Open to any interested persons. Cost: Varies depending on class or activity. Cost of mailing monthly newsletter $10.00 per year or emailed free of charge upon request. Transportation services include: There is a one time sign up charge of $10 for this service. Gold Card - good for up to $20 a month in free taxi fare with Yellow or Spartan Cab (482-1444). Each time the card is used you pay half of the fare and the Senior Center is billed by the cab company for the other half. When your half of the fare exceeds the $20 monthly limit, you will receive a bill showing any balance due.

PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT Hours: Vary: See specific center below Services: The Lansing Parks and Recreation Department offers a 50 Plus program for Lansing area seniors. This program provides comprehensive and diverse services and activities at various sites throughout the city, which are available to adults 50 years of age and over. Programs and activities include such areas as recreational activities, advocacy issues, enrichment opportunities, health services, and other special events. Many of these programs and activities are offered in coordination with other community agencies. Nutrition meal provided by Tri-County Office on Aging's Meals-On-Wheels. There is a calendar of events published quarterly and available at any of the 50 Plus centers. Free on-going activities at Letts Center include bridge lessions & bridge, skip-bo, bingo. Free on-going Miller Road activities include shuffleboard, billiards, horse shoes, bingo, skip-bo and table tennis. In addition Miller Road offers evening programs, dances and events. Letts

Michigan State Parks - Michigan senior citizens age 65 or over, can obtain an annual vehicle pass for their car at a reduced fee. National Park and Forests - Senior citizens age 62 or over can obtain a Golden Age Pass free of charge at any national park entrance. These passes are good for national parks, monuments, and recreational areas managed by the federal government. Also there is a 50% discount on Federal "use" fee charged for facilities and services such as camping, boat launching, and parking, but not fees charged by concessionaires. WAVERLY

The program provides approximately 10-12 day trips and 2-4 longer trips per year. It also includes two large senior golf leagues which are on Tuesday and Thursdays April through September; a senior mixed bowling league; guest speakers, musical entertainment; a monthly book club, bingo; walking program (Lansing Mall); card parties including contract bridge, euchre and pinochle; exercise classes including stand and sit to get fit, yoga, and Tai Chi. Transportation to medical and dental appointments provided to Waverly School District residents. Blood sugar and oxygen levels are tested once a month, blood pressures taken twice a month, monthly foot care and annual flu clinic. Eligibility: Open to any interested person age 50 & over.
