OF LANSING HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAMS Services: Funding available through the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME programs. Purpose is to provide low and moderate-income city residents to upgrade their housing conditions. Helps clients get & keep permanent housing or permanent supportive housing. Case management may be provided for up to 2 yres, or up to 6 months after the client moves into permanent housing. Follow-up services are available. Eligibility: Any agency can refer a client. A case manager will contact you to set up time to meet. Builds handicap ramps, and does other small fix-up jobs. ReStore is a resale shop that sells new & used home improvement materials at deeply discounted prices. Pilot program on Lansing westside (target neighborhood) designed to improve housing conditions for local homeowners who can't afford costly repairs like replacing furnace, windows, updating electrical system. Allows qualified individual to borrow up to $5000 interest free. Part of Habitats commitment to Vision 2020, a multi-agency initiative to eliminate substandard housing. The IDA program will give $3000 down payment toward purchase of a home if client's save $1000 of their own & families must have at least 1 child under age 18, living in household & meet income guidelines. Retirement Centers and Homes for the Aged - Retirement Centers may provide a "continuum of care". They can have several types of housing and service options which assist independent elderly residents and some provide personal care. Tenants may reside in independent quarters or move to other divisions as their need for support services increases.
