Services:
Toll-free 24/7 help line provides callers with information about
Alzheimer's disease and caregiving concerns, provides emotional
support and makes referrals to local agencies and educational programs.
Educational programs are targeted to caregivers, health care providers,
and people with Alzheimer's disease and the general public. Caregiver
Support Groups, Memory Loss Support and Education groups are available
in many areas. See support groups for local groups meeting in your
area. The Chapter's Public Policy Committee and State Advocate work
at the local, state and national level on public policy changes.
Chapter staff is also available to speak to community and civic
groups on Alzheimer's disease. Lending Library offers free
borrowing privileges to those interested in learning more about
Alzheimer's disease. Offers a wide variety books and videos on the
disease, caregiving, etc. Loan period is four weeks for books and

Safe
Return-
Nationwide identification, support & registration program that
provides assistance where an individual with Alzheimer's or related
dementia becomes lost locally or far from home. If a registrant
is missing, Safe Return can fax information & photo to local
law enforcement department to assist in locating. Available 24 hours
a day. $40 registration fee (scholarships available) provides engraved
identification necklace or bracelet & iron on clothing labels.

Cost:
The Alzheimer's Association is a non-profit chapter of the National
Alzheimer's Association and offers its services at no charge. Donations
are appreciated.

Services:
Offers a variety of support programs to help meet the needs of cancer
patients and their families. Equipment loans for items such as hospital
beds, bath benches, wheelchairs, commodes and van transportation
to and from treatments and medical appointments are available. The
FYI Resource Center located at Abbey Road has a lending library
of books, videos, and brochures dealing with cancer related issues
as well a computer available for patients to access to information.

Walking clubs meet in numerous pedestrian malls. CPR classes, speakers

Blood
Donor Program
11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Volunteer blood donations
taken. Autologous and directed donations may also be available.
Blood drives are also held throughout the community. Blood program
supplies 55 hospitals in a 34 county region. Donors must be 17-72
years of age and in good health.

Alert Program
In conjunction with Lansing Post Office. Postal carriers will call
an emergency contact person if they notice mail piling up or have
other reasons for concern. Participants must be a Lansing resident
and a senior citizen or disabled and have two emergency contact
persons (one must have a house key). Call (517) 484-7461 ext. 190
for an application.
Disaster
Assistance Program
24-hours a day, seven days per week. Provides assistance for victims
of fires and other natural disasters in the tri-county area.
Emergency
Services
Crisis case work for the community especially for emergency needs
of food or shelter that occur between 8:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. M-F. Food
bank used after hours.

Services:
Offers printed materials about arthritis and its treatment; a lending
library of books and video tapes, a physician referral list, displays
of literature and arthritis programs that can be used for open houses
and health fairs. Trained speakers are available to make presentations
to the groups and organizations and mutual support groups meet monthly
to provide an opportunity for arthritis patients and their families
to share problems and concerns. Self-help courses are available
to give arthritis patients and those who care for them the knowledge
and skills they need for on going care. The Arthritis Aquatics program,
a recreational water exercise program uses local pool facilities,
and PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) is a special program
that uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and
range of motion. The foundation also has a quarterly newsletter
and the Arthritis Helpline available during business hours for those
needing information or answers to questions.

Fee for self-help courses, aquatics and PACE classes. Arthritis
and Fibromyalgia self-help courses held periodically. Scholarships

yoga & personal training. Rehabilation services includes inpatient
and outpatient services, Physical, Occupational & Speech Therapy
