Box 40010, 419 N. Capitol Ave. Hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Services: The college offers two gerontolgy degrees. The Gerontology Certificate of Achievement is a 32-semester hour credit program designated for already-degreed persons who wish to focus their skills in gerontology. The Associate Degree in Human Services, Gerontology Specialization, is a 69-semester hour credit program designed for those preparing to work in the field of gerontology. Short-term gerontology seminars are offered in fall and spring semesters for LCC students and non-students. Most of the seminars are approved for continuing education hours for nurses, nursing home administrators and adult foster care licensees and administrators. Eligibility: Anyone may attend the seminars, but persons wishing to obtain the Gerontology Certificate or the Associate Degree must enroll in Lansing Community College. Cost: Fees are based on current LCC tuition rates.Gerontology seminar fees vary. Senior Tuition Awards are available for students 60 and over who meet income requirements. Mental Health and Aging Project(MHAP) funded by the Michigan Department
of Community Health is a program unit at LCC. The project is devoted to
providing education, training, education services, applied research services
and consultation in aging. MHAP publishes a quarterly newsletter, UPDATE,
which is a technical assistance resource for mental health & aging
professionals throughout the state of MI. |
