PLANNING ASSOCIATES Hours: Time and location of appointments arranged at the client's convenience. Services: Provides individualized private geriatric case management services and helps determine the best options of care for older persons with special needs. Provides supportive counseling. Eligibility: Residents of the Greater Lansing area. Cost: Fees established and presented in writing. Private pay and Medicaid Waiver accepted. CEI
COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH Hours: 8:00 -12 noon and 1:00 -5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Services: Primary focus of the Older Adult Community Outreach Program is to provide case management services to older adults who experience a serious and/or persistent mental illness in order to assist them in maintaining and improving their functioning in their homes and in the community. In addition to case management services, mental health professionals provide counseling to older adults who are homebound and who experience depression, anxiety, obsessive or compulsive thinking. Eligibility: Case management candidates must be 55 years of age or older, live in the greater Lansing area and have a diagnosis of a serious or persistent illness. Cost: None. OBRA Program: Offers mental health services to persons in nursing homes who are coping with a mental illness or a developmental disability. For referrals call 346-8318. Older Adult Day Treatment Program: This program offers a variety of therapeutic activities on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday to older adults who suffer from a serious and/or persistent mental illness. The program is operated from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and include a free lunch for participants. Must be 55 years or older, live in the greater Lansing area and have a diagnosis of a serious and persistent mental illness. Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program: Direct treatment and support is provided to older adults 55 and older, and those close to them for medication and alcohol misuse/abuse. A support group called Young at Heart meets regularly. Call 346-8265. Prevention/Education services focus on wise drug use and how to enjoy and maintain healthy aging. In-services and workshops are provided to senior groups and professionals who work with older adults. AND FAMILY SERVICES OF MICHIGAN/CAPITAL AREA Hours: Monday and Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Services: Offers counseling for family, child-parent, social adjustment. Counseling is available for children of elderly parents. Speakers are available for presentations to groups. Also offer seniors and their families counseling and a respite referral. Eligibility: No restrictions. Cost: Sliding scale based on ability to pay. Accepts most insurances. CLINTON

MENTAL HEALTH CLINIC Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Fridays until 6:00 p.m. Services: Personal, marriage, and family counseling. St. Vincent Catholic Charities also sponsors several programs for older persons including: Foster Grandparent program , Senior Companion Program and Capital Area Interfaith Respite Service. Eligibility: Residents of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties. Cost: Fees based on ability to pay. Medicare Part B, Medicaid and other insurance accepted. GEROPSYCHIATRY
EVALUATION & MANAGEMENT SERVICES (GEMS) Hours: Office hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Program 24 hours. Services: Intensive short-term stay in the inpatient unit. All patients are admitted to the program by licensed psychiatrists. During their stay, patients will be involved in individual, group, family and activity therapy. Eligibility: Adults age 60 and older with mental health needs. Cost: Covered in whole or in part by insurance such as Blue Cross, HMO, Medicare, Medicaid, CHAMPUS and others. IN MENTAL HEALTH Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Project Stay hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Services: Assists individuals suffering from emotional or mental problems. Project Stay assists individuals with living in the community by providing support services like transportation, help in finding housing, food, and assistance with obtaining SSI or GA. HEALTH SYSTEMS GERIATRIC PSYCHIATRY PROGRAM Hours: 24-hours per day, seven days per week. Services: Geriatric Psychiatry Unit offers a short-term inpatient program for older adults who have experienced an acute change in mental status, behavior or personality requiring psychiatric care. The Geriatric Psychiatry Program offers a holistic approach to health, giving attention to medical, psychological and social factors. Each patient's treatment begins with an expert multi-disciplinary assessment performed by a team which then creates a master plan of treatment tailored to the individual patient's needs. The teams include psychiatrists, chaplains and geriatric medical specialists. Eligibility: Adults 60 years of age or older with need for inpatient psychiatric treatment.
