Services: Trained volunteers will come into the home for up to four hours a week to relieve full-time caregivers. Friendly Visiting is a program component of CAIR. Volunteers provide in-home companionship and support to area seniors. CAIR volunteers will become companions and another set of "eyes and ears" for an alone, isolated senior. Current CAIR friendly visitors have helped by engaging in: helping a senior navigate the internet, plant a garden or driving a senior to the grocery store. By being a companion and assisting an elder in household tasks, the CAIR program can help bring friendship and assist a senior remain as independent as possible in their own home. Seniors are matched with a community volunteer.

Eligibility: Caregivers needing respite or relief, who have full-time responsibility for care of dependent individuals ages 18 and older. Call for more information. Friendly Visitor criteria are: low income (125% of federal poverty guidelines); senior (age 60 and up); physically frail; lives alone and homebound; limited family supports and reside in Clinton, Eaton or Ingham Counties.

Through the provision of these services, HOL enables each family to maintain the patient at home, where he/she may leave life as she/he entered it - surrounded by family and love. Hospice is licensed by the State of Michigan and certified by Medicare/Medicaid. Bereavement services are provided for 13 months following death.
