Services: Responsible for investigating and determining whether the person "suspected of being abused, neglected, exploited or endangered is an adult in need of protective services". Eligibility: Board of Water and Light customers who need electrical life support equipment, and/or those persons with medicine that must be refrigerated. Beds for overnight stays are on a first come first served basis. Includes three hot meals per day, clothing, personal need items, non-denominational worship services, bible studies, residential drug and alcohol program (5 month), and emergency or holiday food baskets for families living at home. SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY Hours: 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week. Services: Responds to non-medical emergencies in the Greater Lansing area. The program helps with crises such as the inability to buy medication, and utility shut off notices. Trained volunteers will assess the situation and help arrange necessary services, with the client's consent. Eligibility: Seniors 60 and older living in the greater Lansing area. Cost: There is no fee but donations are accepted. END
VIOLENT ENCOUNTERS (EVE) Hours: 24-hour a day, seven days a week Services: Provides shelter, support groups and individual counseling for victims of domestic violence. Childcare is also provided. LEDGE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (G.L.E.A.P.) Services: Voluntary organization working through local churches to help with emergency needs. Vouchers are issued for various emergency needs such as food, utilities and transportation. Contact a local minister to make a referral. An operating committee meets monthly and every 6 months with the advisory board (open to public). Eligibility: Grand Ledge school district citizens in need. Cost: None. Donations welcomed. HAVEN
HOUSE Hours: Office: 8:00 a.m.- 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Referrals 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 p.m. weekends. The shelter is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Services: Temporary emergency shelter for homeless women with children and families. 28 beds on a first come first served basis. Residents are served 3 hot meals per day, and clothing is available. Part of the Ingham County Food Bank. Other support services are available. Eligibility: Limited to females, or men with children or as part of a family. Need for stay is evaluated weekly. Emergency services provided: food, rent assistance, medical, transportation, school expenses, child care & furniture and household items. Amount of assistance cannot exceed $250. Eligibility: Applicants must be a relative caregiver for children in Ingham Co., Michigan. Eligibility based on evaluation and the urgency of need & meet income requirements. Call for details. Information needed includes a copy of bills or other documents, statement of need, referral letter from social worker or 3 references from a social service agency. Those approved will receive a phone call. Written confirmation will be sent by mail, whether application is approved or denied. LOAVES

Services: Short-term (14 days) overnight shelter providing breakfast, dinner and advocacy services. Long-term (up to 24 months) transitional shelter and services. Eligibility: Overnight shelter: male and female adults 18 and over and children with parents. Transitional shelter: Mother's with children only. Cost: None for overnight shelter. Women's and Children's Overnight Shelter - Open 365 days a year, this 25-bed shelter offers women & children a warm, safe place to sleep. With referrals from our case management team, they may also utilize programs and services of New Hope Day Center (see listing above). Men's Overnight Emergency Shelter- Open 365 days a year, this 50-bed shelter offers men a warm, safe place to sleep. May also utilize the services and programs of New Hope Day Center. Veterans Services & Housing Program- Veterans receive services such as case management, individual and group counseling, and referrals for substance abuse and medical treatment. Assists in the development of skills necessary to obtain and maintain employment and permanent housing. Community Kitchen- Free, nutritious meals are served to the hungry and homeless. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served Monday through Friday. Special Events- Adopt a Family- annual program matches needy families with "sponsors" who adopt them for the Christmas holiday. Holiday Meal Program- provides a hot meal on Christmas day for the elderly and disabled in the Lansing area. Thrift Store- located at 5411 South Cedar, Lansing Ph: (517) 272-3126.
